The Spring Must-Have Blazer
Whenever I’m taking a client personal shopping or working with a client online, the key objective is to find versatile items that can be worn on high-rotation. As mums we need a wardrobe of clothing that is multipurpose and low-maintenance.
This spring/summer we are spoilt for choice with blazers. Now, I know you may think a blazer is only for the office, or cooler seasons, but hear me out! There is a reason every French woman owns one (or two, or three…).
A blazer is the perfect combination of smart/casual. It can easily be thrown over a camisole, T-shirt, or shirt.
A great blazer gives your figure a flattering streamlined appearance. It really is the perfect piece to quickly throw on at short notice if you have an unplanned coffee meet up, school event or job interview. It is the one must-have item that can take you from feeling like a stressed-out busy mum to a polished woman in seconds. And don’t we love that!
Blazers this season are in a range of beautiful colours from neutrals to pretty pastels, to patterns or stripes. For budget friendly options, you can’t go past Zara or H&M. H&M now offer a Conscious range in sustainable styles which is good to see! Expect to pay between $120-180 for pieces.
Country Road and Witchery have some fabulous Blazers to choose from too; you’re looking at a price point of $150-350.
The fabric of the season is linen! As a natural fibre linen has breathability and is very light in weight. This makes it the perfect hot weather fabric, and perfect for styling with your dresses, skirts or denim.
A tip to styling your Blazer is to roll or cuff the sleeve. For the majority of women, the forearm is the slimmest part of the body so this is a great way to achieve an instant confidence boost — and you’ll look super chic too!
Now, for the right style for your body shape. The trend currently is the double breast blazer, unfortunately this style is not for everyone. For those ladies who are wider around the waist a single breast blazer is going to be the most flattering as the buttons are following a vertical line. This keeps the eye traveling up and down.
For those ladies who may still be breast feeding and or want to flatter a larger chest opt for a longer style blazer. This won’t add extra weight on your top half and will give the illusion of a narrower shape. Look for a blazer that ends at the hip or lower and avoid boxy shapes.
Have fun shopping lovelies and wishing you a wonderful Spring!
