Coogee Diggers Bistro local review
Nestled up on the hill overlooking the suburb of Coogee is The Coogee Diggers. Often regarded as home to a few pokie machines and older aged locals
enjoying a beer, in the past few years this Coogee establishment has really stepped up in terms of catering to families.
The food is pub fare, but you can't often go wrong with a good steak (prices start from $23), mash and mushroom sauce with a glass of shiraz on a Friday night when you can't be bothered to cook after a long week of kids or work.
The kids menu (kids under 12) is pretty standard, fish and chips, nuggets & chips, pasta, cheeseburgers, calamari & chips from $9-$12 but the kids are not long at the table woofing down their dinner because of the great play area they have set up. They also do pizza's which are pretty tasty.
Each kids meal comes with an activity pack, sometimes the bar staff are a bit preoccupied so make sure you ask them when ordering for the activity pack for those with kids that want to do some colouring in.
The kids area is set up with activities including computer game consoles, noughts & crosses wall games, giant Connect Four, ABCKids on the big screen.
Activities cater for all ages (except crawling bubs) but it means for a hour or so you can connect with friends, have a semi ok conversation
with a beverage in hand whilst the kids are entertained. High chairs are available.
We give it a thumbs up for local family friendly dining that is affordable and accessible.
